JLB @ August West Amphitheater 05.24.17

The Jed Luckless Band returns to their home stadium for some Friday night lights at August West Amphitheater. JLB and Particle Tom deliver for the home fans, with a wild array of sound and vision at Darkstar!

The opener sets the tone, a brisk “Alaska” from Phish with a nice jam right out of  the gate and a segue into some Grateful Dead with “Bertha.” ANother Dead tune, “Brown Eyed Women,” provides one of the hot jams of the night, into the JLB original “Victim of the Rhythm.”

Second set highlights include a hot “Cities” jam into the new JLB original “Sugar Pop,” and a rockin’ version of moe’s “Happy Hour Hero.” The boys wrap up the evening with a tribute to Bob Dylan on his birthday with “All Along The Watchtower.” Enjoy!

JLB @ The Bayou 05.17.13

The Jed Luckless Band is back at the Bayou and the fellas deliver a deliciously spicy show full of Phish, Dead and fresh baked JLB originals!

The show opens with a new Phish addition to the JLB repetoire, the explosive Trey instrumental “First Tube,” which flows nicely into the JLB original “Ozone Blues.” The Kenny Kaufman tune “Saw Mill River,” always a favorite at this local venue, gets a special Zeppelin treatment with a nice “How Many More Times” tease. The first set features two nice jams, one joining a silky “Ghost” to a raw “Loser,” and the other sandwiched between “Sneakin Sally” and the Mark G. tune “Road Trip.” First set wraps up with the JLB popster “SILWU.”

Second set opens with an “of the” medley, stringing together “Victim Of the Rhythm,” “Eyes of the world,” and “Valley of the Saints” with some nice jamming along the way. A rockin’ “Character Zero” follows, along with a nice new blues original from the band called “Far Gone Blues.” Things wrap up with “FM Rock,” an “El Paso” request from the crowd and a “Suzy Greenberg” finale.

Another fun show at a venue the JLB clearly loves to play, surrounded by friends, friendly folks and fried chicken. Enjoy!

JLB @ Lulu’s 05.04.13

The Jed Luckless Band hits Long Island for the first time, bringing their high energy rock and roll show to Lulu’s in Port Jefferson, NY. The show was a benefit for BootsOnTheGround.com and JLB shared a triple bill with Keystones and Diamond Jig Band.

The show starts off with a brief soundcheck jam while the band works out some technical issues on stage, and then launches into a perfect spring opener with their original “The Freeze.” The set lifts off with the Phish covered Velvet Underground tune “Rock and Roll” and a jam into “SILWU.”

“Victim of the Rhythm” is the centerpiece of the set and the band delivers a strong version with an energetic solo and an extended jam that finds it’s way into an appropriate “Road Trip.”

JLB @ The Blarney Stone 04.25.13

The Jed Luckless Band kicks off their 2013 Spring Tour with a virtual show in Secondlife, at The Blarney Stone, which as always was jam packed with a crowd of fifty people anxiously awaiting a rock and roll show. And JLB delivers as always, with a mix of Grateful Dead, Phish and original tunes, including several debuts for the band!

First set starts off with the time tested JLB single “Still In Luv With U,” but here they serve up a nice slow groove version of it. The fun begins to escalate with a pairing of Phish’s “Bouncing” with the Dead’s “Bertha.” The band debuts a new instrumental song “Valley Of The Saints,” and delivers a nice version of their poignant “Smile Forever.” But the centerpiece of the set, and possibly the show, is a twenty minute “Franklin’s Tower” and “Deal” combo which features some highly groovy jams from the boys.

Second set features several new and recent JLB originals, including the funky “Sugar Pop,” a bouncy blues number from Jed called “Far Gone Blues,” and the blazing Phish instrumental “First Tube.” A grungy version of Moe’s “Happy Hour Hero,” and the popular Mark Gutenplan pairing of “Englishtown” and “Rider” close out an energetic show which brings the proimise of a rockin’ spring with JLB. Enjoy!

JLB @ August West Amphitheater 03.29.13

JLB closes out their 2013 winter tour on home turf, delivering this tight show of favorite tunes and tasty jams to a packed house at August West Amphitheater on Darkstar in Secondlife.

The classic Jed tune “The Freeze” opens the show, a perfect opener on this thawing Spring night. A nice “Sand” and “Loser” combo follows with a sweet jam that is only slightly interrupted by Strambo’s little one joining the studio audience (past his bedtime). The new JLB tune “Sugar Pop” makes another appearance here, and the band continues to use “Saw Mill River” to sandwich a tune, in this case the rarely covered “Space Oddity.” Speaking of rare, Jed breaks out his electric Epiphone for a few tunes, which is not typically done at Stramland, and it sounds sweet.

Second set starts off with the Trey Anastasio tune “Alaksa,” featuring a nice jam into a strong version of the Grateful Dead tune “Bertha.” Jed delivers a nice guitar solo and his instrumental “Meredith,” coupled with a nice uptempo “Dear Prudence.” The new Mark Gutenplan tune “FM Rock” also shows itself again this show, and the set wraps up with a powerful “Shakedown Street” jam and the JLB original “Queen Lucille.”

A fun show with home field advantage giving JLB the edge! Enjoy!

JLB @ Beach House Cafe 03.16.13

This is one for the history books. After eight years of live music, the Beach House Cafe in Greenwich, CT announced they would no longer have live bands at the venue. Beach House is one of the Jed Luckless Band’s favorite venues, the band having played half a dozen shows there. This is the final show the JLB would play at the cafe, and although you can sense the foreboding in the air, the boys don’t disappoint a crowd eager to rock for St. Patty’s day weekend.

The show starts off with “Shakedown Street,” and its appropriate message “don’t tell me this town aint got no heart.” A nice jam leads to the Trey Anastasio tune “Alaska” a recent addition to the JLB playlist, which also features a nice jam into the original tune “Queen Lucille.” The band takes a breath before delivering a powerful “VOTR > Eyes” combination. Set I wraps up with a couple Phishy covers.

Second set opens with the live debut of a Jed Luckless original called “Sugar Pop,” which will get people on their feet and features a middle jam section with alot of potential. A version of Phish’s “Ghost” with a very nice extended jam follows, paired with the JLB original “Ozone Blues.”  The centerpiece of the set is the Kenny Kaufman original “Saw Mill River” with the Jed original “The Freeze” sandwiched in the middle jam portion. The set finishes up with a nice “Ramble On Rose,” the JLB tune “Still in Luv With U” and a rockin “After Midnight.”

A bittersweet evening at the Beach House and a show with some very nice jams and tune pairings. Enjoy!

JLB @ Dudley’s 03.02.13

The Jed Luckless Band Winter Tour 2013 continues, onto a new venue for the fellas, Dudley’s Parkview Lounge in New Rochelle, NY. JLB does not disappoint the Dudley’s crowd, delivering a super long show full of sweet jams and great Dead and Phish tunes.

First set kicks off with the JLB original “Ozone Blues,” its story of a sweltering Earth a bit out of place on this snowy night, but nonetheless a great way to ease into the set. The Dead tunes make an appearance early with “Brown Eyed Women,” and the band is nicely warmed up by the time they hit a sweet “Cities” and “Sugaree” mid set combo. The more appropriate original “The Freeze” makes a strong showing, but the set ends on a Phishy note, with a fun “Bouncing Around The Room,” an energetic “Character Zero,” and a “Sneakin Sally” with a real nice jam to close out the set.

At over ninety minutes long, the second set is probably the longest set JLB has played live to date, and it packs in a bunch of favorites and a number of nice jams. Set two kicks off with a Lou Reed birthday tribute “Rock and Roll” paired with its familiar “Still In Luv With U” companion. Things really take off with an eighteen minute VOTR-Eyes twofer, which continues into the popular JLB combo “Sand>Dirt”. As if this wasn’t enough, the boys roll right into fourteen minutes of “Shakedown Street” and the Neil Young penned “Ohio.”

The rest of the show features several Dead tunes and originals, and wraps up with fun “Gumbo” encore after a long night of great tunes with good peeps. Enjoy!

JLB @ The Blarney Stone 02.28.13

JLB returns to the Blarney! As usual, it was a packed house, with a crowd of over fifty crammed into the virtual Irish Pub to hear Jed and the boys crank out two sets of high energy and fun rock and roll.

The show is full of debuts for the JLB including a couple new originals, both in the first set. “FM Rock” is a new Mark G. tune, commentary on the state of music today. And “Sugar Pop” is a new addition from Jed, a relentlessly funky tune that is sure to become a jam vehicle. First set also features a fantastic VOTR opener and and awesome “Ghost” and “Loser” pairing for the Dead Phish heads.

Second set starts off with a powerful “Shakedown Street” and jam, which leads into another debut for the JLB, the Trey Anastasio song “Alaska.” A nice “Ohio” and “Ramble On Rose” combo followed by obligatory “Ozone” closer wraps up a fun Secondlife show. Enjoy!

JLB @ The Bayou 02.01.13

The Jed Luckless Band Winter Tour 2013 continues at The Bayou in Mount Vernon, NY, a favorite local venue for the fellas and home of the best Cajun cookin east of the Hudson River!

The show opens with an appropriate original on this cold night, “The Freeze” but the place quickly warms up with a nicely jammed out “Eyes of The World” for the Dead Heads at the bar (they also get a nice mid set “Bertha” delivered). The high point of the set is a nicely jammed version of Moe’s “Happy Hour Hero.”

Second set caters a bit more to the Phish heads in the crowd, featuring an extended “Rock and Roll” opener and yet another jam-incarnation of the JLB’s “Sand” and “Dirt” combo. The Deadheads do get a nice Ramble On Rose, and the set is rounded out with a couple JLB originals.

A roller coaster of a show with some great highs! Enjoy 🙂

JLB @ Don Pedro 01.31.13

The Jed Luckless Band hits Brooklyn, USA for the first time! On an awesome bill with NYC Jam Bands Small Craft Warning and Grant’s Tomb. You can tell JLB is excited to hit a new borough, as they bring high energy to a set filled mostly with originals and a few choice jams.

Things kick off strongly with VOTR out of the gate, followed by what is becoming a popular JLB Phish pairing, “Sand” and “Dirt” including a nice transitional jam. The band fills out the long single set with nearly their entire new CD (“Roll The Tape”), the strongest of which is a powerful “Saw Mill River.”

A heavy “Cities” jam and a guest sit by Mike Bafundo of Grant’s Tomb on “The Mighty Quinn” round out an excellent JLB show in a fun new locale. Enjoy! 🙂
